Christmas Tree Luminaries with DeAnna Steiner

In this clay workshop students will cut out patterns on a pre-formed tree to create sparkly luminaries. The instructor will provide designs for carving, or students can create their own. Luminaries will stand roughly 4-5” tall. This is a great workshop for beginners of all ages, and it’s a fun way to spend some time with your family, too!

Children ages 9 and up are welcome to join their parent(s) for this workshop. Children who join will receive 10% off the enrollment fee. All materials are provided and no clay experience is needed. Just bring your imagination and wear comfortable clothes. Luminaries will be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after the workshop - right in time for the holiday season! Add a tea candle and enjoy.

Pre-registration is required and limited space is available. Please register early!

DeAnna Steiner took her first pottery class at Pullen Arts Center in Raleigh NC in 1998. It was an introductory class to wheel throwing. It was so challenging, but seeing the clay respond to slight changes in movement was just magical. She was hooked!

Steiner continued to work in information technology at IBM. In her free time, she took numerous workshops and classes to expand her knowledge and hone her skills. She learned new throwing techniques, transitioned to handbuilding, and explored surface design methods. There was always something new to learn. There still is.

Now, Steiner lives in her childhood home in Morganton, NC. In 2020, she started Fig & Owl Studio and devoted all her energy to improving her craft and sharing what she loves with other people in her community. She’s recently started teaching and it is so rewarding.
