Ceramic Wall Hanging Workshop with DeAnna Steiner
Create a beautiful wall hanging that is uniquely yours during this two-day workshop. In the morning on the first day, you will focus on creating the elements of your wall hanging from slabs of clay. After lunch, you’ll add textures, designs, and underglazes.
Come back on June 13 and assemble your fired pieces. Consider bringing in found objects, like drift wood, stones, and feathers, to incorporate into the wall hanging. You can hang the pieces from a bamboo stick or something found.
The finished wall hanging will bring new life to your walls. They should be hung in a protected environment such as indoors or covered porch.
Clay and tools needed to create this stunning wall hanging will be included. No clay experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and an open mind!

DeAnna Steiner took her first pottery class at Pullen Arts Center in Raleigh NC in 1998. It was an introductory class to wheel throwing. While she found it challenging, seeing the clay respond to slight changes in her movement was just magical. She was hooked!
She continued to work in information technology at IBM. During that time, she took numerous workshops and classes to expand her knowledge and hone her skills. She learned new throwing techniques, transitioned to handbuilding, and explored surface design methods. There was always something new to learn; there still is.
Cut to today, she lives in her childhood home in Morganton, NC. In 2020, she started Fig & Owl Studio and devoted all her energy to improving her craft and sharing what she loves with those in the community. She has recently started teaching and finds it so rewarding.
